WHO COACHES REC LEAGUE?
Our coaches are all parent volunteers. No previous soccer experience is required for coaching Rec League, especially at the youngest ages. We provide training for our coaches, so all you need is a willingness to jump in and help out with our young players!
If you are willing to coach, please sign up when you register your child. We are looking for volunteers that are willing to give their time, and provide a positive environment while teaching these young players the basics of soccer and how to be a team player.
DO COACHES NEED A BACKGROUND CHECK?
Our coaches and assistant coaches are all required to complete three pre-requisites. (1) Background check (2) Concussion training and (3) SafeSport training. We realize that this takes some of your time, but we are required by state and federal law to have our volunteers complete these requirements. We highly recommend that each team have at least one coach and one assistant that has completed all three requirements. At least one adult who has completed all three requirements must be present at every practice and game.
DO YOU HONOR SPECIAL REQUESTS?
Special requests include team placement, preferred practice days or times, etc. Unfortunately, we cannot consider special requests. While we are very pleased that our Rec program is growing, the increased size has made it impossible to juggle the number of special requests we receive each season. Rec League teams are formed by the BYSA Rec League Directors, and we make every effort to keep the teams fair and balanced.
DO YOU SHARE MY CONTACT INFORMATION?
Please note that your basic contact information (phone number and email address) will be shared with your coach. The coach will only use this information to share information with the team or to contact you in case of an emergency.
